
The Educational Center for the Visually Impaired (ECVI) invites the community to its annual Blind Awareness Fair, a vibrant celebration of resilience, inclusion and possibility.

Southwind Park, Springfield
10 a.m. – 2 p.m.

Whether you're sighted or visually impaired, this hands-on event offers meaningful ways to connect, learn and have fun. Attendees will experience:​

Free kites and flight demos

Interactive obstacle course to simulate low vision navigation

A fun 0.1K race – yes, you read that right!

Live archery demo by ECVI’s own Blind Bowman

Tandem bike rides
-
A food truck with snacks and refreshments​
Evelyn Brandt Thomas, Springfield Mayor Misty Buscher and Illinois State Representative Mike Coffey will kick off the event at 10 a.m.

The Blind Awareness Fair starts at 10 a.m. and wraps up at 2 p.m. But in between we have a lot of fun planned for our friends in attendance. You can download the schedule of events, so you know what to expect. We can't wait to see you there!

Obstacle Course Sign-Up
Teams of four are invited to participate in the Obstacle Course Challenge! Two blindfolded team members will have to navigate the course with only verbal direction from the other two teammates. A prize will be awarded for the fastest time. Gather your team and get ready for a test of trust, communication and teamwork! Download the sign-up form to join in the fun.
